Mardi Gras with the Island Boy

Laissez le bon temps rouler!!! Happy Mardi Gras!! This weekend was the Mardi Gras parade I go to in Shreveport, Louisiana.  My boyfriend, Josh, who is from Honolulu (Jealous!) had never been to Mardi Gras or Louisiana for that matter! My family is from Louisiana and Mardi Gras is a pretty big celebration for us, so I really wanted to share it with him.  We left for Longview early Saturday morning and arrived around noon.  I should also add that this was his first time meeting my dad and my cat.  He of course won them both over in a matter of minutes! He's pretty sweet.  After talking with my dad and playing with the cat, we left for Shreveport.  It's about an hours drive to there.  Once there, we went to the Louisiana Boardwalk till it was time to head over the parade. The parade was great!! We both caught a lot of beads, cups, and other knick-knacks.  Once we were to frozen to stay any longer, we headed out for dinner.  Josh had never eaten alligator before so we went to Crawdaddy's Kitchen and order a plate of gator. It was SO good! Honestly, it was better than some of the gator I've had in New Orleans.  For dessert, we stopped at Southern Maid Donuts (aka best donuts in the world).  Josh, who is extremely active in the Corps of Cadets and is a senator at Texas A&M actually said he is considering transferring to LSU he loved Lousiana so much! (He was of course joking! BTHO LSU).

The next day, while I stayed home to work on a bit of homework before having to drive back to College Station, Josh and my father went to the range to shoot rifles.  They had a blast!

Overall, it was a wonderful experience that I am very happy I got to share with my Island Boy.

I apologize for my quality of photos. My camera died, and my phone will only take photos through Snapchat.
